ROGERS QUEENING IT AT THE GUILDHALL
Two big shows will be coming to Gloucester's
Guildhall next month. Firstly, the Eastgate Street venue will be welcoming rock icon Roger Taylor, former Queen drummer and
now band helmsman in his own right.
Roger will be following in the footsteps of guitarist Brian May and going it alone,
heading out on tour with a brand-new band line-up behind him and will be visiting Gloucester to play one of just a handful
of shows in the UK.
Roger holds the record for the largest on-line audience ever reached when he played live on the
Internet last year to an audience of nearly 600,000.
That was Rogers first live concert in four years and its obviously
given him a taste to get back out there in front of a crowd.
On March 15 he kicks off his first UK tour since 1994
in Gloucester. The Guildhall may be a bit cosier but Queen fans are expected to turn out in their droves.
The tour
coincides with the release of a new single Surrender!, a re-recording of a track from his recent Electric Fire album.
Roger
will be featuring a selection of tracks from this album and previous solo albums as well as some of the famous hits he penned
for Queen including Radio Ga Ga, These Are The Days Of Our Lives and A Kind Of Magic.
Full details of the show were
unavailable at the time of going to press and to be truthful, Soundcheck wasn't sure that people would be that interested
in seeing the drummer from a band long since finished (even one as massive as Queen) until reports from the Guildhall told
us that a simple tip-off posted on the Internet had sparked sales of almost 200 tickets.
So the message to all Queen
and Roger Taylor fans must be to get on the phone and book now.
